Rewind: Enjoy Spring Sharathon!

From the Desk of Elaine Hinshaw

It’s been a beautiful spring so far, and I am excited to host our 35th Spring Sharathon! I hope you will join us each night at 8 pm for some nostalgic programming: interviews with people who have been instrumental in establishing and growing Blue Mountain Television, reruns of beloved speakers and hosts, and music that we love and remember. Did you know that Blue Mountain Broadcasting is 100% community-supported? Throughout three and a half decades of broadcasting, your gifts of time and treasure have built an incredible foundation on which to build the future. And we will follow God’s leading into the future, remaining here until our efforts are no longer needed. It is such a privilege to be part of this mission and have the opportunity to bring you special programming next week!

But this year it is even more than that. We are living in a time of considerable national and global uncertainty.

I also want to address reality. Spring Sharathons are hard! First, it’s Spring, and who wants to sit around inside watching TV? But this year it is even more than that. We are living in a time of considerable national and global uncertainty. We are bombarded each night with worst-case scenarios and fearful predictions. What I have heard referred to as a hinge of history—the process of moving from an industrial age to a digital one—where everything we have known for the last century is turned on its head. These monumental changes in our world bring fear, uncertainty, and change. Not one of those is comfortable. In fact, they create anxiety and freeze us in place. This seems like a terrible time to commit to one more financial responsibility right now.

I want to reiterate something we hold dear but too often forget from Philippians 4: 6-7. Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends ALL understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus. And I follow up with this beautiful passage from Isaiah 43: when you pass through the waters, I will be with you; and when you pass through the rivers, they will not sweep over you. When you walk through the fire, you will not be burned; the flames will not set you ablaze.”

It is a message that is so timeless that it is needed as much today as it was in the days of Noah.

He is with us every step, every breath of every day. We don’t know how long we will be left on this earth. However, we do know it is a privilege to share that message until that incredible day. It is a message that is so timeless that it is needed as much today as it was in the days of Noah.

Generations come and go, but right now, it is our turn to step in and support the mission of Blue Mountain Broadcasting. It is our turn to commit our time and treasure to fill the world with disciples, no matter where they might be in their walk. We are not called to build walls around ourselves but to build bridges to His love, His peace, and the transformation He creates in us.

Can viewers count on you to become a Watchkeeper? It’s been fun to look back this week and celebrate God’s blessings over the past 35 years. Those years and blessings are instructive and encouraging. But what matters most, in this moment, is what happens next. And that will require all of us.  A monthly gift from you makes an incredible impact. Your gift combines with others to give viewers an opportunity to connect with Jesus. No gift is too small. It is the act of giving that God can use to find just one more.

Thank you for becoming a Watchkeeper. And if you already give monthly, now is a great time to review your gift and consider increasing it by a few dollars a month. Or why not send a special one-time 35th Birthday gift!

Most of all, thank you for your continued prayers and for watching and sharing Blue Mountain Television and Bluestream with your friends and neighbors. You are the roots, the life of Blue Mountain Broadcasting. I wish I could give you a thank-you hug and introduce you to the viewers who thank us for Blue Mountain Television. On their behalf, thank you for making a difference in their life. I wish you the joy and peace of Jesus, today and every day.
