From the desk of
Lynelle Ellis.
Dear Viewer:
Famed actor Alan Alda once noted that people will talk for hours, saying nothing particularly meaningful, and then linger at the door. We stand with a hand on the doorknob and in that moment finally bring up the real issue, the unspeakable truth.
This year has been very challenging for Blue Mountain Broadcasting. While the dream of a dedicated facility has become a reality, the media landscape has changed dramatically, our core viewership is aging, and many of our most committed donors have gone to their rest.
And today, I stand with a hand on the doorknob of 2025, with only fourteen or so days to say what needs to be said: without a commitment from you, Blue Mountain Broadcasting will not survive.
The fourth quarter of this year revealed the scale of the crisis we face. The bare-bones monthly budget for Blue Mountain Broadcasting is $29,667, and that does not include rebuilding our operating reserves. The core constituency of 59 donors, who give $3,977.30 each month, is a huge blessing. Watchkeepers are incredible heroes who faithfully provide viewers with the opportunity to spend time with Jesus, some for the first time. But they can’t do this alone!
Too often, it’s easy to believe that someone will take care of it and assume that whatever we’ve relied on to be there at no cost to us will be there forever. But that’s just not true. It takes all of us, contributing some, to make a real difference. And even if you don’t watch much BMT yourself, someone you love or care about does.
After the pandemic, we experienced a significant change in how our churches function for older adults. For many, Sabbath means tuning into their church to participate with their church family, even if they can no longer attend in person. For others, it is daily company, a presence in an empty house. And for some, it is a chance to build Sabbath traditions or memorable moments.
If you haven’t had a chance to catch A Season of Prayer yet, I encourage you to take a few moments and look it up on Bluestream, our YouTube Channel, or on our Website. You’ll hear the very personal, moving stories of Joe Young and Leonard Noerling, and how BMT was a conduit of hope for the future, infusing the challenges of this sinful world with an opportunity to connect with Jesus.
BMT viewers need YOU. The size of your monthly gift is not the most important thing about it. What is important is that we work together to fulfill the mission of providing local, Christ-centered television for our community.
Thank you for partnering with us on this journey. Your continued prayers, feedback, and contributions of time and treasure make an eternity-sized difference for our viewers and community.
And it is my great joy to thank you on their behalf. He IS faithful.
